Description
Svapna-vasavadattam visualizes the saga of love and loyalty, beauty and culture, devotion and dedication, nobility and magnanimity. The poet buttresses the values of patience and planning with dignity and affection. He heralds the intrinsic nobility of human conduct that reveals itself even in times of distress and fosters solace in the hearts of fellow beings. A remarkable feature of this play is that it has not a single wicked character and yet touches the lofty aspects of destiny and evil. Even while doing so, it never loses dignity of form and content. Throughout the play we see an unfailing marvel of grace and serenity.
Even Kalidasa, the finest among the masterly poets of India, was inspired by Mahakavi Bhasa-and this alone suffices to reveal to us the artistic value of the Svapna-vasavadattam.
