Lalitavistara is one of the most revered texts in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition. It presents a detailed and divine biography of Gautama Buddha, beginning with his descent from the Tushita heaven and continuing up to his first sermon at the Deer Park in Sarnath. The narrative highlights the miraculous, symbolic, and spiritually significant events of the Buddha’s early life, enlightenment, and teachings.

This Kannada edition is based on the original Sanskrit text, translated into Telugu by Tirumala Ramachandra and Bulusu Venkataramanayya, and beautifully rendered into Kannada by Dr. R. Shesha Shastri.
